The first of the “America’s Art Form Series” on October 9th will be “The Music of Louis Armstrong” with special guest musician George “Doc” Ryan on Cornet. Ryan headed the Memphis band "Hot Cotton” touring the country with their happy beat too much acclaim. When "Doc" retired to Hot Springs, "Hot Cotton" disbanded making only occasional appearances for special events. These days "Doc" can be found around Hot Springs doing his signature tunes of Louis Armstrong and was recently seen with the Spa City Stompers during the annual Hot Springs JazzFest’s outdoors Jazz in the Streets concert.
Other musical styles to be presented are The Swing Era, Bebop and Beyond, The Divas, and Fusion. Each will be presented on the second Wednesday of the month from 6:00pm to 7:30pm at the Garland County Library. Entrance is free.
